I am endlessly fascinated by the creatures with which humans share this earth. Reading books on animal behavior is a hobby of mine, and over the years I have kept a long list of fascinating animal stories I've come across, from books and other sources. Animals are a wonder. Yet somehow, humans have developed the idea that we are at the top of the food chain, the apex of evolution. I don't think that's true. The more I learn about the ways in which animals interact with one another, and the ways in which they impact our earth, the more convinced I am that humans are (at best) on equal footing.
Elephants grieve, worms feel love, wolves get jealous, and turtle tears nourish dehydrated butterflies. This world is too beautiful not to notice. My work is an expression of these stories. My hope with my work is that people will consider their place in the world differently, and view animals with the respect and honor that they are so deserving of.
