My approach toward making art is to achieve an intuitive freedom, which breaks the shell of appearances, and captures the underlying essence; not copying the surface of nature, but probing beneath it and grasping the fundamental principles. My art is achieved through an automatic process with the subject matter generally consisting of various plants or animals. I start with an abstracted background usually consisting of 3 or 4 colors, then use black and white paint to decipher an image based on what i see within the abstracted background. I don't use value in my paintings, and instead let the colors fill the image that leads the viewers eye to conceive the form. Throughout this process, I see simplified beauty in chance. Making order out of chaos.
