Andrea de Leon is a multidisciplinary artist that uses elements of light, distortion, equilibrium, optics and psychology in order to explore a quantum neurosis. Because of the inherent nature of making the work, the exchange of heat and energy inherently embeds itself within the process and creates a dynamic cerebral landscape. It takes a metaphysical approach in order to reveal something about the viewer ultimately reaching to understand what makes us human.
Andrea obtained her BFA in Studio Arts from the University of Texas and has received awards to attend residencies in glass at Ox Bow School of Art and Penland School of Crafts. She has worked and shown internationally and currently teaches metalsmithing at Creative Side Jewelry Academy. Andrea was a founding member of ICOSA Collective and continues to evolve her sculptural practice in Austin, Texas.
