Inspired by generations of quilters and makers, studio art classes and my own home based art business, I have found myself in a land of folk artistry...creating form or functional pieces using my own hand-painted design papers. Drawing from nature led to the "Roadside Grasses" series. This collage collection, utilizing crystals and my Painted Papers, is a favorite theme. Whimsical objects and collages beckon new opportunities to recycle/repurpose/decoupage and embellish with Painted Papers and vintage costume jewels. New works, inspired by my great-grandmother, are collages of the quilting pattern she taught me to make when I was 9 years old. "The Nine Patch-a tribute to Lucy Baker", has opened up a renewed spirit in me to integrate patterns into each piece which allow for interplays of light, texture and shape, while recalling my own heritage.
