About the Artist

Judith Bush is a painter and interior designer. She understands how art transforms interior spaces—creating meaning, depth and a shared experience. She was introduced to watercolor through a summer workshop during high school—beginning a lifelong interest in watercolor and acrylic. Judy was a member of Watercolor Art Society Houston and studied with nationally known watermedia artists. She was a founding member of Archway Gallery. For 7 years, Judy exhibited and was a featured Artist at Work at Laguna Gloria's Fiesta in Austin. In Dallas, she returned to school to get her degree in Interior Design. Following graduation, Judy moved to Austin—beginning her 25+ year career at Bommarito Group, an award-winning commercial Interior Architecture and Design firm. She is Senior VP, former Director of Design and currently is Design Advisor. Judy has come full circle—approaching each painting from a design perspective— less about subject, more about process. She builds a rich understructure—layers of color, texture, depth—followed by thoughtful analysis adding, subtracting, dividing space, reconnecting, weaving elements together with stylized patterns, lines and shapes. This combined creative + analytical design process inspires her and brings new meaning to the paintings.
