Since 2002 Sophia Anastasia DeRuvo has been a painter and cellist in Austin, Texas. For most of her early exploration she focused on watercolor. DeRuvo first started her fascination with acrylic in 2010. Since then DeRuvo has started to expand into gouache and mixed medium now with a curiosity for digital mediums. DeRuvo spent 2015 studying at the School of the Chicago Art Institute. There she rekindled her love for the cello, expanding into an experimental sound. Her works reflect surrealism and abstract expressionism with inspiration from human anatomy. They are her expression of human psyche and her own experience living with schizophrenia.
