About the Artist

J Muzacz is a mural painter, mosaic maker, and public artist alongside working as a community art advocate and educator. He is also co-founder of The Mosaic Workshop, an artist-led open studio space at Something Cool Studios in East Austin teaching the process of public art from concept to completion through hands-on mosaic and mural painting projects of monumental scale. In the studio, Muzacz's brightly stylized stained-glass painting work and pixelated pop art mosaic pieces are inspired by positivity and cultural awareness with a celebratory vibe, unique textures, gravitas and a timeless air.

"I create landmark artworks that transform spaces and viewer perception through painted murals, glass, lighting, textiles, mosaic art or any combination of these. Arising out of collaborations with diverse communities and inspired by nature, I am motivated by the possibilities inherent in re-purposed materials alongside innovative processes and ancient techniques."
