About the Artist

Kent has been a creative all his life. He grew up on a small farm in Texas and was considered quite the oddball to many for his love of playing the piano. His rather solitary childhood afforded the opportunity to explore the natural world around him, and it also instilled a bit of wander lust in him at a very early age. Kent began dabbling in painting late in the 1970s and some of those early efforts hang in his mother's home. He says they keep him reminded of his very humble beginnings.Kent rarely painted again until 2008 when a colleague gave him a gift of six painting lessons. That simple gift opened a chapter that returned him to his true role as a creative—this time as a painter. Classes with gifted teachers and workshops with admired artists have given him his own artistic voice. His paintings now hang on walls around the world, in addition to his mother's walls. His landscapes and abstracts offer a glimpse into his life experiences, but more importantly invite the viewer to imbue his paintings with their own stories, their own experiences—to make the paintings their own.
