Lynda Young Kaffie is an artist who focuses on contemplative practice and the intersection of art and spirituality. She has an MA in Pastoral Ministry from the Seminary of the Southwest and a BFA in art history from Southern Methodist University. Having worked in the private business sector, in state government, and as a commercial real estate broker, she returned to the art field full time in 1992. In her artwork, she focuses on the landscape from a contemplative/meditative perspective. An active world traveler, she has explored the landscapes of Italy, France, Spain, South America, Mexico, Scotland, the United States, Canada, and her own state of Texas. Hiking with camera and sketchbook in hand, she sketches images of nature which capture her eye. Themes of water and sky resonate throughout her work as she finds inspiration in the continual changes and transitions found in nature.
Growing up on the Texas coast and the Texas Hill Country, she developed an affinity for the places where water meets sky and where mountains and hills meet with flowing rivers and streams. Her aesthetic reflects how the training of her eye and heart by the nature she loves have taken shape in her work.
