Monica Mohnot is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist. Her practice ranges from abstract paintings, textile and fiber art. A native of Kolkata, India, her colorful paintings, weavings and her fiber sculptures are a response to the contrasting cultures she inhabits as well as paying homage to her homeland. The relationship between the simplicity of the physical organic world and complexity of life and nature can be seen in her art as her distinctive personal style emanates joy and peace and expresses the vibrant spirit and atmosphere of the Indian culture. Her work hints at a mysterious relationship between a deep inner reality and the extensive universe. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Texas State University. Currently, she lives and works in Austin, Texas. Mohnot's artworks has been shown in exhibitions in San Marcos, Austin and on online platforms.
