About the Artist

Though I've spent nearly half of my life in Texas, I'm a Tarheel at heart. I became interested in art as a teenager but was dissuaded from pursuing it further by school counselors who helped lead me to my first career as a Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN). Nurses were in high demand, and at the time, it seemed like a more reliable way to make a living. It ultimately provided that and more. I met my husband at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston, and we soon began bouncing between North Carolina and the Lone Star state with our family in tow. Having relocated at least seventeen times to date, I have often joked of our nomadic spirit. This, however, did not curb my enthusiasm for art or deter me from seeking courses wherever we happened to be. Once my son and daughter finished high school in Austin, I decided to fully commit my time to pursuing a BFA in Studio Art at The University of Texas. Since then, I have created work inspired by our modern nomadic life and the real meaning of home—the people with which you surround yourself.
