About the Artist

Jean Synodinos is an emerging self-taught abstract artist who works primarily in acrylics, mixed media, resin, and concrete. She is devoted to the application of texture and hue to explore the perfect imperfection of curves implied by nature as well as the lines imposed upon nature by people, and each canvas is finished with resin to amplify colors. Her work in concrete seeks to be both gracefully utilitarian and ruggedly decorative. Her paintings can be found in private collections across the country, and her hand-cast bowls can be found in over 100 Austin homes. When she isn't painting, you might find her on stage as a singer-songwriter or swilling coffee as she hammers out a new short story. A graduate of Duke University, Jean lives in south Austin with her partner and their clever schnauzer-husky mix.
